Gaza Bleeds: Israel’s Egregious Attacks Kill Over 62,000 Civilians
(MENAFN) The Palestinian Health Ministry reported Thursday that at least 62,192 people have died in Israel’s ongoing genocidal campaign in Gaza since it began in October 2023, describing the offensive as genocidal in nature.
In the past 24 hours alone, 70 bodies were recovered and 356 individuals were injured, bringing the total number of wounded to 157,114. “Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” the ministry said in a statement.
Civilian deaths while attempting to access aid have continued to rise. According to the ministry, Israeli strikes over the past day killed 18 Palestinians and injured more than 117 others as they tried to collect humanitarian assistance. Since May 27, at least 2,036 people have died and 15,064 have been wounded in similar incidents.
The situation is compounded by worsening hunger. The ministry confirmed two more deaths from starvation and malnutrition within 24 hours, raising the total to 271, including 112 children.
The Israeli military resumed its offensive on March 18, following the breakdown of a ceasefire and prisoner swap deal brokered in January. Since the resumption, 10,646 Palestinians have been killed and 45,073 injured.
In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the war in Gaza.
Israel is also currently being tried for genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
