(MENAFN) Jordan’s Energy Ministry oversaw the signing of agreements to supply natural gas to the Jordan-Japan Fertiliser Company (Nippon) plant in Aqaba and to develop gas infrastructure in key industrial areas. The deals, signed with Fajr Natural Gas Company and Tanmia Natural Gas Company, were attended by officials including Energy Minister Saleh Kharabsheh and JPMC Chairman Mohammad Thneibat.

The agreements aim to reduce energy costs for national industries, enhance competitiveness in domestic and international markets, and support environmental sustainability by replacing heavy fuel oil with natural gas. The Nippon plant will receive 225,000 cubic feet of gas daily, improving production efficiency and boosting fertilizer exports.

Additionally, Kharabsheh witnessed strategic agreements between the Jordan Oil Terminals Company, Jordan Industrial Estates Company, and Ma’an Development Company to develop and operate gas infrastructure in the Muwaqar and Al Rawda industrial estates, reinforcing Jordan’s broader industrial and energy sector growth.
