UK alert heat-health alarm for five zones in England
(MENAFN) The British Health Security Agency (UKHSA) together with the Met Office announced on Monday an amber heat-health alert for five regions of England, effective starting Tuesday, as much of the country is expected to experience hot weather this week.
This amber alert, described as an "enhanced hot weather response," covers the West Midlands, East Midlands, South East, London, and East of England.
Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for the North West and North East regions for the same timeframe, while the South West and Yorkshire and the Humber regions continue under an existing yellow heat-health alert.
The Met Office explained that a combination of high pressure and southerly winds will push temperatures higher across England and Wales during the first half of the week, with some areas surpassing 30 degrees Celsius on Monday. London is forecasted to reach highs in the mid-30s Celsius on Tuesday.
Deputy Chief Meteorologist Tom Crabtree noted that warm conditions will prevail during the early part of the week, with temperatures remaining above average later on, especially in the southeast.
