Armenia Inks Key Deals with US, Azerbaijan
(MENAFN) Armenia’s deputy foreign minister characterized the recent trilateral summit held at the White House with Azerbaijan and the United States as a "historic" moment, signaling a turning point in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
He also emphasized that this summit established an "important milestone" toward improving ties with Türkiye.
Speaking to a news agency, Vahan Kostanyan described the meetings as marking “an important milestone,” following the signing of a landmark agreement at the White House by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and US President Donald Trump aimed at ending decades of conflict.
Kostanyan stated, “Yesterday’s discussions, both bilaterally with the United States and trilaterally with the United States and Azerbaijan, were very important, even historic.”
He added that these talks represented a significant step forward not only in Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization but also in enhancing the Armenia-US strategic partnership.
He further pointed out that three major memoranda of understanding were inked between Armenia and the US.
These agreements cover capacity development for Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace initiative, collaboration in artificial intelligence and semiconductor technology, as well as energy cooperation.
Regarding the Armenia-Azerbaijan agreement, Kostanyan underlined that the peace treaty reached in March had now been officially initialed.
Additionally, they signed a letter concerning the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and finalized a joint declaration witnessed by President Trump.
