U.S. House Panel Issues Subpoenas to Clintons
(MENAFN) The U.S. House Oversight Committee has issued formal orders demanding that former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton provide testimony regarding their connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to a news agency on Tuesday.
Representative James Comer, who leads the committee and hails from Kentucky, dispatched numerous subpoenas on Tuesday morning that relate to Epstein, the report stated.
Alongside these, the Republican lawmaker also issued a legal demand to the Justice Department for documentation tied to the Epstein investigation.
Included among the individuals summoned to appear are past FBI chiefs James Comey and Robert Mueller, as well as former Attorneys General Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales, the news agency reported.
According to the network, Hillary Clinton is expected to testify on "Oct. 9," with Bill Clinton scheduled for "Oct. 14." Trump Attorneys General Sessions and Barr were assigned appearances for "Aug. 18" and "Aug. 28," respectively.
Obama administration officials Holder and Lynch have been instructed to attend hearings on "Sept. 19" and "Sept. 30," while Merrick Garland, who served under former President Joe Biden, is due to testify on "Oct. 2."
Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who served under George W. Bush, is required to appear on "Aug. 26."
The Justice Department has been given a deadline of "Aug. 19" to submit all records associated with Epstein, the report added.
The decision to issue these subpoenas came after a vote held by a House subcommittee last month, authorizing the action.
