Air India Issues Apology After Passengers Discover Cockroaches During Flight
Ever seen a cat or a dog on a flight? Although not common, its not the most unusual sight. But what about a crawling insect? An unsettling incident took place on a recent Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai, when passengers noticed cockroaches on board.
Two passengers flying on flight AI180 from San Francisco to Mumbai via Kolkata were shocked when they saw cockroaches on the plane.

"Two passengers were unfortunately bothered by the presence of a few small cockroaches on board. Our cabin crew, therefore, relocated the two passengers to other seats in the same cabin, where they were comfortable thereafter," said the airline.

They further clarified that during the flight's scheduled fuel stop in Kolkata, the ground crew quickly conducted a deep cleaning process to address the issue. The aircraft then departed in time for Mumbai.
"Despite our regular fumigation efforts, insects can sometimes enter an aircraft during ground operations. Air India will be undertaking a comprehensive investigation to determine the source and the cause of this incident and implement measures to prevent recurrence. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to the passengers.”
Back in 2018, a business-class passenger travelling by Air India's Newark-Mumbai flight posted pictures of bedbug bites on her arm.
The airline recently started international flights after halting many of them in the wake of tragic Ahmedabad crash which killed 260 people.
