New freight trains boost China-Türkiye trade through Middle Corridor
(MENAFN) The recent deployment of two freight trains traveling from China to Türkiye through the Middle Corridor represents a key step forward in enhancing rail connectivity between the two countries and Europe, according to insights from Turkish officials and logistics analysts.
The Middle Corridor—formally named the Trans-Caspian East-West Middle Corridor—passes through Kazakhstan, spans the Caspian Sea, and proceeds via Azerbaijan and Georgia before arriving in Europe through Türkiye.
A significant moment came with the arrival of the first China-Europe Railway Express South Channel Train at Istanbul’s Halkali Station on July 21.
Loaded with items such as auto parts and communication devices, the train departed Chongqing on June 29 and completed the journey in just 22 days. A second train, which left from Chengdu, is scheduled to reach Istanbul in the coming week.
To streamline cargo delivery and maintain schedules, logistics teams in both countries enhanced their planning and coordination, contributing to a more reliable and quicker trade route.
