Qatar Charity Launches Relief And Development Aid Distribution Project In Sri Lanka

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Charity has launched a relief and development aid project in Sri Lanka, aiming to support approximately 60,000 individuals from vulnerable and displaced communities across the country.
The initiative was inaugurated during an official event attended by representatives of the Sri Lankan government, the Embassy of the State of Qatar, and various civil society organizations.
Funded by philanthropists in Qatar, the project includes the distribution of aid across 14 categories, such as grain and spice grinding machines, sewing machines, manual and electric wheelchairs, furniture, desks, and medical equipment. The program forms part of Qatar Charity's ongoing efforts to respond to the impacts of natural disasters, support people with special needs, and promote the economic empowerment of underprivileged families.
Speaking at the event, Mahmoud Abu Khalifa, Director of Qatar Charity's office in Sri Lanka, emphasized that the initiative reflects the organization's commitment to enhancing the lives of vulnerable populations and transitioning from relief to sustainable development. He expressed gratitude to Qatari donors and acknowledged the cooperation with Sri Lankan authorities.
Sri Lanka's Deputy Minister of Justice and National Integration, Munir Muzafer, extended his thanks to the State of Qatar and Qatar Charity for their continued humanitarian support. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to facilitating the implementation of such impactful development projects.
Ali Hassan Al Emadi, Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Sri Lanka, underscored the significance of Qatar Charity's humanitarian mission, which is rooted in the values of the State of Qatar. He highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts with government institutions to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of these initiatives.
Qatar Charity's office in Sri Lanka is currently implementing a range of development projects, including the construction of schools and health centers, the drilling of water wells, and the establishment of housing for low-income families. These efforts are part of a broader social and community development strategy aligned with Sri Lanka's national development goals.
