France To Recognize Palestinian State At UN General Assembly
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) French President Emmanuel Macron announced Thursday that France will formally recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly meeting in September.
In a letter sent to the Palestinian President, Macron stated that in light of his commitments, he is honored to confirm that France will fully recognize the State of Palestine during his participation at the UN General Assembly in September.
He emphasized that the two-state solution is the only viable path to fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians, urging its swift implementation.
Macron affirmed France's aim to make a decisive contribution to Middle East peace and pledged to mobilize support from international partners willing to participate.
He also stressed the need to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza and strengthen the Palestinian National Authority across all Palestinian territories.
Highlighting the urgency of a viable resolution, Macron called for an end to all forms of violence and for creating conditions that allow both Israel and regional nations to live in peace and security.
He noted that this is the objective of a high-level international conference to be co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia at the United Nations, focused on a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and the realization of the two-state solution.
Earlier, Macron affirmed on his official account on platform X that in keeping with its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, France has decided to recognize the State of Palestine.
