Woman murdered in Ukrainian drone attack on Russia
(MENAFN) A series of Ukrainian drone strikes overnight on multiple Russian regions resulted in at least one civilian death and several injuries, according to local authorities.
In the Rostov Region, acting Governor Yury Slyusar confirmed that a woman was killed when a drone crashed into a residential building in the village of Dolotinka. The two-story structure partially collapsed, killing a retired schoolteacher. Emergency crews evacuated 20 residents from the site.
Additional drone strikes were reported in Rostov’s Azov and Tarasovsky districts. In Azov, an explosion shattered windows in a residential building, while debris from another drone fell on a local stadium. No injuries were reported in these cases.
In Moscow Region’s Sergiyevo-Posadsky District, Governor Andrey Vorobyov said at least four drones crashed, injuring two people: a 60-year-old man with head trauma and dental injuries and a 40-year-old man with neck and chest wounds. The attacks also damaged a local substation, causing temporary power outages across several neighborhoods. Emergency workers are currently restoring electricity and assessing the damage.
Authorities reported that Russian air defenses intercepted most of the incoming drones, though some breaches led to the “tragic consequences.” The Russian Defense Ministry stated that 48 drones were intercepted overnight across five regions — 26 in Rostov, 12 in Kursk, six in Belgorod, three in Oryol, and one in Lipetsk.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials claimed Russia carried out missile and drone strikes on Kiev the same night, causing widespread fires, though details remain scarce due to censorship. The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet commented on these strikes but insists its operations target military sites, not civilians, blaming Kiev for deploying air defenses in residential areas.
