Ukrainian MP From Banned Pro-Russian Party Charged With Treason And Influencing NABU

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Security Service of Ukraine reported this, according to Ukrinform.

According to the SSU, Khrystenko was a top agent (resident) of Russia's FSB security service.

The investigation found that Khrystenko was responsible for strengthening Russian influence over the NABU. He was charged in absentia under the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the crimes of high treason committed by a group of persons in wartime and abuse of influence.

After the full-scale invasion began, Khrystenko fled Ukraine and has continued efforts to influence the NABU from abroad.

Investigators say Khrystenko was recruited by the FSB during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych and remains closely connected with Yurii Ivaniushchenko (aka Yura Yenakiyevsky), a known FSB resident and overseer of the so-called DPR (Donetsk People's Republic) on behalf of Russian intelligence. Khrystenko also served as a liaison to Armen Sarkisian (aka Armen Horlivsky), a collaborator who was killed in an explosion at a luxury Moscow residence in early 2025.

The SSU also claims that Khrystenko actively carried out FSB assignments during the 2014 Revolution of Dignity in Ukriane, including organizing anti-Maidan transport logistics using private carriers under his control to move hired provocateurs (“titushky”).

Investigators report that Khrystenko currently maintains close ties with certain NABU officials, including Ruslan Mahamedrasulov, head of an interregional detective unit, who was detained by the SSU today on charges of conducting business with Russia and maintaining contacts with Russian nationals.

Khrystenko and Mahamedrasulov are said to have known each other since their student days at Donetsk University.

Another close contact is Oleksandr Skomarov, head of the NABU detective unit. Evidence shows that during the full-scale invasion in 2022, Skomarov's wife traveled abroad in a car registered to Khrystenko's wife.

Skomarov also competed for the top position at Ukraine's Bureau of Economic Security (BES). Investigators say that oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky hoped Skomarov, if appointed head of the BES, would help shut down a criminal case against him. This claim is backed by evidence from Kolomoisky's correspondence with one of his subordinates.

However, Ihor Kolomoisky is not the only oligarch that FSB agent Fedir Khrystenko allegedly tried to assist. Investigators have documented that NABU detectives aided another Ukrainian businessman, Hennadii Boholiubov, a business partner of Kolomoisky, in fleeing the country.

Specifically, two NABU employees, subordinates of Oleksandr Skomarov, accompanied the fugitive oligarch as he crossed Ukraine's border. They were in a neighboring train compartment, allegedly "for backup." According to the investigation, this "special operation" was also orchestrated by Khrystenko.

During searches of Khrystenko's associates the law enforcement officials discovered sensitive NABU case files, including documents from covert surveillance operations and candidate profiles for the NABU detective positions. These findings suggest Russian infiltration and systemic leaks from within Ukraine's anti-corruption agency.

The Security Service of Ukraine is conducting a thorough investigation into possible agent infiltration by Russian intelligence into the NABU.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the Office of the Prosecutor General and the SSU detained Ruslan Mahamedrasulov, a senior NABU detective. He is currently awaiting formal charges under Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - aiding the aggressor state.
