(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, July 16 (KUNA) -- Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam affirmed on Wednesday his country's commitment on continuing its efforts to extend sovereignty over the north and south of the Litani River.
This came during his speech in response to MPs' questions in the general session of the House of Representatives dedicated to discussing the government's general policy.
Everyone knows that the army has accomplished a lot in terms of extending the state's sovereignty over its lands south of the Litani, said Salam.
"We renew our commitment and insistence on reform and rescue, and we will spare no effort to mobilize Arab and international support to pressure Israel to withdraw from Lebanese territory and stop its attacks," he pointed out.
He noted that the government has developed a comprehensive plan for the safe and sustainable return of Syrian refugees to their country, noting that 16,000 requests have been registered over the past 10 days for the return of Syrian refugees to their country.
Salam affirmed that the government has prioritized the rights of bank depositors, which requires introducing transparency and order into the banking sector.
He added that the government is discussing the possibility of signing agreements to establish gas-powered power plants.
Earlier, Lebanon's Parliament renewed confidence in Prime Minister Nawaf Salam's government with 95 votes in favor.
Ultimately, the voting process outcome for renewing confidence in government came as follows: 69 MPs voted in favor, 9 MPs voted No confidence, and 4 MPs abstained from voting. (end)
