China Aims Strengthening Ties with UK
(MENAFN) During a meeting in Beijing on Monday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed his country’s intention to deepen strategic dialogue and broaden collaborative efforts with the United Kingdom.
This announcement came during talks with Jonathan Powell, the national security adviser to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
A statement released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry highlighted Wang's remarks, noting that ties between China and the UK “have embarked on a path of improvement and development.”
This progression, he added, aligns with international dynamics and reflects the aspirations of citizens from both countries.
Wang acknowledged and welcomed the UK’s initiative to cultivate a “consistent, lasting and mutually respectful” bilateral relationship.
He emphasized that China is ready to reinforce strategic discussions and expand its cooperative engagement with the UK.
Powell, for his part, conveyed Britain’s willingness to intensify dialogue and strengthen communication with China, aiming to foster a “stable, practical and long-term partnership.”
Both delegations also exchanged views on significant matters of shared concern.
