Amazon Expands Quick Commerce Service 'Amazon Now' To Delhi
This marks the tech giant's second foray into the hyper-fast delivery market, highlighting its growing interest in the 10-minute delivery segment.
Launched as a pilot late last year in Bengaluru, Amazon Now was aimed at catering to the increasing demand for instant delivery of groceries and daily essentials.
Following strong traction, especially among Prime members, Amazon has now extended the service to parts of Delhi and plans to roll it out in other metros in the coming months.
“We are running our 10-minute delivery service Amazon Now in select pin codes in Bengaluru and Delhi, and are excited by the positive customer feedback,” an Amazon spokesperson said.“We aim to expand the service further over the next few months.”
Though Amazon and Flipkart entered the quick commerce space later than rivals like Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart, they are now investing heavily to catch up. Flipkart is also bolstering its rapid delivery unit, Flipkart Minutes, by expanding its network of dark stores.
Initially seen as catering to small, low-value grocery orders, quick commerce is now emerging as a significant challenger to traditional e-commerce platforms.
Analysts fr0m Emkay Global note that Q-commerce is evolving into a major disruptor in the digital retail space.
Rather than building separate platforms, Amazon and Flipkart are integrating quick commerce into their existing apps, helping reduce costs and leverage existing user bases.
In addition, Amazon is boosting its logistics backbone by investing Rs 2,000 crore in expanding fulfillment centres. Currently, over 1 million products are eligible for same-day delivery, and 4 million for next-day delivery, strengthening Amazon's push in the ultra-fast delivery race.
