Awareness Campaign On Cornea Donation Launched At Al-Bashir Hospitals
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, July 10 (Petra) -- Al-Bashir Hospitals on Thursday hosted the launch of the national awareness campaign on the importance of cornea donation, held under the slogan "Give Light to Others."
The campaign is organized in partnership with the Jordan Eye Bank, the Friends of Jordan Eye Bank Association, Rotary Club of Amman - Ammon, and supported by Germany's Rotary Club Aalen-Heidenheim and Rotary International.
The campaign is part of a project to combat vision loss in Jordan, which aims to support the Jordan Eye Bank with an advanced medical device that divides the cornea into two parts, increasing the number of beneficiaries from each donation and helping reduce waiting lists for corneal transplants.
Specialists from various medical, legal, and religious sectors, along with local community representatives, are participating in the campaign, reflecting broad collaboration to ensure its success.
Director of Public Relations at Al-Bashir Hospitals, Zaid Faouri, said that cornea donation is not just a medical procedure but a noble humanitarian message that brings hope and light to those who have lost their sight.
The campaign aims to raise public awareness of the importance of cornea donation after death and to promote a culture of humanitarian giving that restores the hope of sight to patients in need.
