Kuwait PM Urges Rapid Implementation Of Mous With China

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, July 3 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, on Thursday urged the concerned ministers to follow up on the implementation of the agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoU) signed between Kuwait and China.
This came in a meeting headed by His Highness to follow up on the implementation of agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the governments of Kuwait and China.
The 17th meeting of the committee touched on the latest developments of projects included in the agreements between the governments of the two countries on cooperation in the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, the electrical power system, the development of renewable energy, low-carbon green system for waste recycling, housing development, environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment plants, and free and economic zones.
His Highness the Prime Minister directed the committee to follow up on the implementation of major development projects and the latest developments, and to accelerate the implementation procedures and steps taken by the ministries and authorities with Chinese government agencies, praising the visions presented by the committee to address all challenges and work on achieving highest possible coherency in minimizing procedures between state authorities to ensure the implementation of development and modernization projects and plans within the specified timeframe.
The Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and member and rapporteur of the Ministerial Committee, Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, gave a detailed explanation of the daily discussions between the Kuwaiti and Chinese governments on following up on the developments in the implementation process of the agreements and MoUs signed between the two governments after His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's visit to China.
He also reviewed the coordination, consultation and cooperation efforts with the Chinese government regarding ways to combat desertification by the execution of national projects that include rehabilitating ecosystems and expanding afforestation programs, in addition to protecting the environment and combating sand encroachment, in line with the directives of His Highness the Amir on that matter.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Prime Minister's Diwan Abdulaziz Al-Dakheel, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mishari, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Noura Al-Fassam, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Salah Al-Majed, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, and member and rapporteur of the Ministerial Committee Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat.
