(MENAFN) A devastating accident occurred on Wednesday when a transit bus flipped over in Southern California, leaving 20 people injured, local authorities confirmed to news outlets. One of the victims is reported to be in critical condition, with others receiving medical care.

The incident unfolded around 11:20 a.m. local time (1820 GMT), north of Lancaster, a city situated roughly 110 kilometers from downtown Los Angeles. According to media, the bus lost control and collided with nearby train tracks, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle ultimately came to a stop on its side beside the railroad tracks, officials added.
