EMRC Teams Seize 9 Vehicles For Illegal Basalt Transport In Zarqa
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, July 2 (Petra) – The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) teams on Wednesday carried out an intensive field inspection campaign in the Khirbet Al-Samra area of Zarqa Governorate, seizing nine vehicles found transporting basalt from unlicensed sites or operating in violation of public safety regulations.
The campaign is part of a series of scheduled monitoring operations conducted by the EMRC's specialized teams in coordination with local security authorities. Legal action has been taken against violators in accordance with applicable laws, including the impounding of vehicles and documentation of offenses ahead of further administrative and legal measures.
EMRC Chairman Ziyad Al-Sa'aideh said the commission will not tolerate any violations that harm public resources or national wealth, affirming that surprise and routine inspections will continue across the Kingdom, particularly in areas with intensive basalt quarry activity.
Al-Sa'aideh praised the ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, Zarqa Governorate, and security agencies. He emphasized that the commission through its specialized teams and monitoring and emergency center operates around the clock, working jointly with stakeholders to curb illegal exploitation of natural resources. He stressed the importance of protecting public assets, ensuring optimal use of national resources to support the economy, and upholding the rule of law in this vital sector.
