As summer approaches, it is essential to be aware of the impact that the heat can have on your tyres, and take proactive measures to prevent dangerous situations.

Authorities have cautioned motorists to ensure that tyres are not worn out or damaged, verify the manufacturing date, and inspect tyre pressure.

Five key factors contributing to tyre explosions include:

  • Overloading the vehicle beyond the tyre's capacity

  • Incorrect air pressure

  • Excessive speeding that exceeds the tyre's design rating

  • Friction between tyres and hot asphalt surfaces

  • Prior misuse, such as driving over unsuitable terrains

However, tyre checks are not the only way to prevent accidents. It is essential to do regular vehicle inspections and check oils, cooling fluid and other components. In addition to car health, drivers must engage in with good behaviour on the roads
