New Water Supply System Kicks Off in Drought-Hit Afghan Province
(MENAFN) A newly completed water supply system has officially begun operations in Sari Pul province, located in northern Afghanistan, according to a news agency on Saturday.
The report stated that the infrastructure, built at a cost of 8 million afghani (approximately 113,526 U.S. dollars), is designed to deliver safe drinking water to nearly 463 households in the region.
In addition to supplying potable water, the project will also support local agriculture by enabling irrigation across hundreds of acres of farmland, the news agency noted.
Afghanistan continues to grapple with prolonged drought conditions, severely impacting water availability. Residents in major urban centers, including Kabul, are enduring critical shortages of clean drinking water.
