(MENAFN) At least two individuals lost their lives and five others sustained injuries after a blast rocked a scrap warehouse in the northwest region of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to official sources.

The explosion occurred Saturday evening in the Lower Dir district, triggered by old explosive ordnance stored within the scrap shop, sources told media.

Those injured were immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where two patients were reported to be in critical condition, the sources added.

Following the blast, local police and bomb disposal teams responded swiftly, securing the scene and retrieving a hand grenade from the premises, the sources confirmed.
