Uzbekistan Showcases Bold Digital Transformation at 2025 United Nations Public Service Forum

(MENAFNEditorial) Uzbekistan took the global stage this week as host of the 2025 United Nations Public Service Forum (UNPSF), one of the world’s most prominent platforms for advancing effective, inclusive, and technology-driven public governance. Held under the theme “Five Years Until 2030: Accelerating Public Service Delivery for a Sustainable Future,” the Forum brought together over 1,000 global leaders to explore how innovation and digital tools are transforming public service.
As the host nation, Uzbekistan highlighted its rapid progress in digital transformation - a national priority that has redefined the delivery of public services and state-citizen engagement. In 2024, the country achieved a major milestone by joining the group of countries ranked as having a “very high” E-Government Development Index. It also advanced 37 positions in the UN’s GovTech Maturity Index, entering the top “A” category.
Key topics included innovations in public governance with raising role of digital tools and AI in enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accountability, reaching the last mile with global practices for expanding inclusive services to all population groups and accelerating reforms with innovation labs in governance and transformation through cross-sector collaboration.
“Digitization is not merely about introducing new technologies. This is a new format of relations between the state and the people, based on trust, transparency and mutual understanding. Uzbekistan is ready to move forward on a path in close partnership with the international community”, noted Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Minister also highlighted Uzbekistan advancements in achieving a modern digital ecosystem that covers key areas such as public services, e-finance, fintech, e-commerce, fiscal analytics and more – signalling both digital maturity and readiness to share expertise globally. Nowdays, the Single Portal of Interactive Public Services (my.gov.uz) offers more than 760 e-services to citizens and businesses, with over 11 million registered users. Over 390 web services from 49 government agencies operate on the "Digital Government" platform, integrating more than 216 information systems. A nationwide network of 208 public service centers provides offline access to services.
The Forum convened from June 23 to 25 in Samarkand, drawing around 1,000 participants from across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America — including ministers, senior public servants, international organizations, academics, civil society, private sector leaders, and digital innovators.
A major outcome of the event was the adoption of the Samarkand Ministerial Declaration, which outlines a forward-looking roadmap to foster inclusive, sustainable, and citizen-centered public service globally. Additionally, the Forum announced the launch of a new initiative to support the international export of digital public administration (GovTech) solutions.
