WPK Holds Key Economic Meeting

(MENAFN) The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) convened a pivotal economic meeting from Saturday through Monday, a local media outlet disclosed on Tuesday.

The Enlarged Meeting of the 12th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK took place under the leadership of WPK General Secretary Kim Jong Un, the outlet noted.

This plenary session was summoned to perform an interim assessment of the execution of critical party and government policies for the current year, reaffirm the strategic direction for the latter half of the year, and address matters related to advancing and deepening short-, medium-, and long-term economic development plans, the report detailed.

During the meeting, comprehensive reports highlighted achievements across all facets of socialist construction—spanning political, economic, cultural, scientific, educational, and defense sectors. The assembly reviewed and sanctioned strategic modifications to several party and state policy agendas and implementation proposals, the outlet stated.

Significantly, the plenary unanimously ratified a decision to hold the 9th congress of the WPK and deliberated on urgent measures to drastically accelerate the revitalization and modernization of key national industrial sectors, the report concluded.
