Erdogan Engages in Talks with UN, Qatari, Pakistani Figures

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan convened a series of high-level gatherings in Istanbul on Saturday, holding talks with the UN Alliance of Civilizations high envoy, Qatar’s prime minister, the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, and senior representatives from Pakistan.

His conversation with UN Alliance of Civilizations High Representative Miguel Angel Moratinos unfolded immediately after the 51st Council of Foreign Ministers session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Presidential adviser for foreign policy and security Akif Cagatay Kilic accompanied the president during this exchange.

Later, Erdogan welcomed Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani at the Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center, the venue of the OIC gathering.

The discussion was also joined by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Intelligence Organization Director Ibrahim Kalin, and Kilic.

Talks revolved around regional dynamics and ways to deepen bilateral collaboration within the summit’s framework.

According to a statement from Türkiye's Communications Directorate, the president has undertaken vigorous diplomatic efforts in the wake of Israel’s strikes on Iran.

Erdogan stressed that countries in the neighbourhood cannot endure another war, highlighting the necessity of keeping Syria and Iraq free from further hostilities, lowering tensions, and carving out space for diplomacy.
