Engineering Exports Surge 60% Since 2014, Showcasing Make In India's Impact: Piyush Goyal
The rise in engineering exports comes amid steady improvements in India's broader industrial performance.
According to data released by the Ministry of Statistics, India's industrial production in April 2025 increased by 2.7 percent year-on-year.
The manufacturing sector-accounting for a significant share of industrial output-recorded 3.4 percent growth, up from 3 percent in March.
Key segments such as basic metals, motor vehicles, and industrial machinery led this expansion.
Particularly noteworthy was the 17 percent year-on-year growth in the production of machinery and equipment, highlighting strong demand in both domestic and export markets.
Additionally, capital goods output-critical for infrastructure and industrial development-rose sharply by 20.3 percent, signalling robust investment activity and potential for long-term employment generation.
The output of durable goods, including electronics and household appliances, increased by 6.4 percent in April.
At the same time, India's continued push in infrastructure is boosting industrial momentum.
Infrastructure and construction goods production grew by 4 percent, supported by sustained public investment in highways, railways, ports, and urban development projects.
With global demand for quality engineering products on the rise, India's strengthening industrial base and export competitiveness are seen as encouraging signs for sustained economic growth and deeper integration into global value chains.
