Egyptian FM, Palestinian PM discuses Iran-Israel conflict

(MENAFN) As reported by official sources, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa held a phone discussion on Monday, focusing on the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza and the broader implications of Israel's recent military actions against Iran.

During the call, Abdelatty detailed Cairo’s continued diplomatic engagement, working alongside Qatar and the United States to push for a truce in Gaza and facilitate the flow of life-saving aid to the besieged territory. He firmly reiterated Egypt’s opposition to what he described as Israel’s “starvation and collective punishment” policies, labeling them a breach of international humanitarian standards.

The minister also strongly criticized Israel's military activities in both Gaza and the West Bank, including settler-related violence. He underscored the necessity of launching a political initiative aimed at establishing an independent Palestinian state, grounded in the two-state framework and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.

Abdelatty further warned of the potential fallout from the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran, stressing the threat such tensions pose to overall regional peace and stability.

He added that Egypt remains actively involved in diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation, focusing on reducing conflict and steering toward peaceful, negotiated outcomes.
