DGT And Shell India Launch Green Skills-Focused EV Training Program Across 5 States
Implemented by Shell's partner, Edunet Foundation, the program spans five states-Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. It will be rolled out across select Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs).
The initiative features a multi-tier training model: a 240-hour advanced EV Technician course at four NSTIs, a 90-hour job-oriented EV skills course at 12 ITIs with Shell-supported EV labs, and a 50-hour foundational green skills module for other ITIs. More than 250 instructors will be trained under the program.
The curriculum covers electric vehicle systems, battery technology, diagnostics, safety protocols, and digital tools. Certification co-branded by Shell and DGT, along with placement assistance, will further enhance student employability.
Specialised EV labs will offer practical learning aligned with real-world industry demands. The program supports India's broader goal of building a green-skilled workforce aligned with national green energy and net-zero goals.
Government officials including Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary and DGT Director General Trishaljit Sethi highlighted the initiative's significance in preparing India's youth for the global green economy.
Shell India's Chairperson Mansi Madan Tripathy emphasised Shell's commitment to future employment and a lower-carbon future.
This collaboration marks a major step in creating a climate-ready and future-resilient workforce in India's evolving green energy sector.
