OECD Unemployment Rate Remains Steady
(MENAFN) The joblessness percentage within the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) remained unchanged at 4.9 percent in April 2025, according to a statement from the organization on Wednesday.
This figure has consistently stayed at or beneath the 5 percent threshold for the third year in a row, reflecting a period of relative labor market stability.
The aggregate number of unemployed persons across all OECD member nations amounted to 34.4 million in April, with minimal fluctuation compared to March.
Among the 33 participating countries, 22 saw no variation in their unemployment percentages, while seven experienced a decrease, and four reported an increase.
Notably, Colombia, Italy, and Slovakia reported figures approaching their historically lowest unemployment levels.
In contrast, several other nations continued to face substantially higher unemployment rates.
In 10 member states, the jobless rate was at least two percentage points above their historical lows.
The most pronounced discrepancies were observed in Finland, Denmark, Estonia, and Luxembourg.
