Kyiv Expects Warsaw's Policy On Ukraine's Security To Remain Unchanged

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was stated at a briefing by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhyi, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that Ukraine respects the choice of the Polish people and is ready to build a mutually beneficial, pragmatic and effective partnership.

"We expect that Warsaw's policy on Ukraine will remain unchanged, that is, a policy of supporting our state. We believe that it is in the vital interest of Poland to have a strong and secure Ukraine, because our security and that of Poland are inextricably linked," the diplomat said.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman also thanked Poland for its significant efforts during its presidency of the European Union in promoting Ukraine's European integration and expressed Kyiv's readiness to see a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and newly elected President Karol Nawrocki.

Tykhyi also commented on the issue of the exhumation of the victims of the Volyn tragedy. According to the spokesman, Ukraine understands all the sensitive issues in Polish society, those that are raised from their side, while the two countries are making significant progress in resolving the issue of historical memory.

"The work related to historical memory is bilateral. I would like to remind you that this is a two-way road, and in the near future search and exhumation work will also kick off on the territory of Poland. You will see detailed updates from our relevant agencies with the names of settlements," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

As reported, the newly elected President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, opposes Ukraine's accession to the European Union "at this moment", while recognizing the strategic importance of supporting Ukraine.
