Moscow publishes record civilian victims from Ukrainian attacks
(MENAFN) Moscow has reported that Ukrainian forces have killed 15 civilians and injured 142 others, including eight minors, in the past week, marking the deadliest period for civilians so far this year. Rodion Miroshnik, Russia's ambassador-at-large for documenting alleged war crimes, shared the figures on his Telegram channel Tuesday, noting that Ukrainian forces launched nearly 2,000 munitions at civilian targets on Russian soil over the last seven days.
The attacks impacted several regions, including the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Kherson, Zaporozhye, as well as Belgorod, Bryansk, and Krasnodar. Miroshnik highlighted a particularly deadly drone strike on a market in Alyoshki, Kherson, which killed eight civilians and wounded 19. Other major incidents included a HIMARS attack in Gorlovka, DPR, that killed one woman and injured 16 others, and a cluster submunition detonation in Staromikhaylovka, which killed one person and injured nine.
Additional attacks included drone strikes on civilian vehicles in Belgorod and emergency services in Gorlovka, injuring several rescue workers and firefighters. Among the victims were elderly civilians, including a 99-year-old woman in LPR and an 89-year-old man in Bryansk. Younger victims also suffered, with a 12-year-old boy severely injured in Kherson and a 17-year-old hurt in a drone attack on a school bus in Zaporozhye.
Miroshnik reiterated Moscow's long-standing accusations that Ukraine deliberately targets civilians using NATO-supplied artillery and munitions, exacerbating the violence as diplomatic efforts for peace continue. He also referenced a captured Ukrainian soldier's confession, claiming direct orders to kill civilians, suggesting that Kiev offers impunity to its forces with the backing of Western allies.
