Kuwaiti-US Relation Deep, Distinctive - FM
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
KUWAIT, March 27 (KUNA) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya on Thursday reaffirmed depth and distinctiveness of Kuwaiti-US relation.
The Kuwaiti top diplomat told KUNA that both friendly countries are keen to develop and sustain such relation in a manner that would serve interests of their peoples. This came after Al-Yahya spoke on the phone with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio earlier in the day.
During the conversation, they reviewed the strong and historic bilateral relations between Kuwait and the United States, highlighting the close strategic partnership. Al-Yahya also emphasized keenness and commitment of the political leadership towards such relationship on all levels.
Considered as one of the United State's most significant allies in the Middle East, Kuwait is taking up its role in sustaining security and stability of the region, noted Al-Yahya, as he voiced eagerness for the 7th round of the joint strategic dialogue between the two countries later this year in Washington, as well as the 164th GCC-US ministerial meeting this coming June, in Kuwait.
Latest regional and international developments were discussed during the call, as Rubio expressed his country's appreciation for the State of Kuwait's "just and balanced" stances, especially regarding the Palestinian cause, and the situations in Lebanon and Syria, according to Al-Yahya.
