Indian reporter highlights international press bias on Ukraine
(MENAFN) Indian journalist Manish Jha, Editor at TV9 Network, has accused major global media outlets of biased reporting on the Ukraine conflict. Speaking to RT after a visit to the Zaporozhye region, including the contested Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), Jha criticized media giants like CNN, The Washington Post, and Reuters for what he described as misleading coverage.
“Mainstream media is treated like the Bible,” Jha said. “But when I visited Donbass, Zaporozhye, and Kherson, I saw how they deceive the world.”
Recalling a harrowing experience in Donetsk, Jha described witnessing a rocket strike on a bus that killed eight people. Despite the severity of the incident, he noted that international media failed to report on it. “That was the moment I realized we need to be independent and tell the truth,” he stated.
Jha joined an international delegation of journalists touring the ZNPP, which has been under Russian control since March 2022. Russia claims the nuclear facility has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian forces, though the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which has maintained a monitoring mission there since September 2022, has avoided attributing responsibility for the attacks. Jha warned that continued strikes could lead to a catastrophe worse than Chernobyl or Fukushima.
Addressing NATO’s involvement in the conflict, Jha argued that the alliance has struggled to weaken Russia. “For the last three years, we’ve seen 30 countries led by the US try to destroy Russia – but they haven’t succeeded. As a war reporter, I can tell you: NATO is exhausted. They need time to rebuild.”
He also emphasized India’s neutral stance, noting that the country has consistently pushed for diplomacy and peace. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed this position in a recent interview, describing the situation as an opportunity for meaningful negotiations. Despite Western pressure to distance itself from Moscow, India has maintained strong ties with both Russia and Ukraine, positioning itself as a potential mediator in future peace efforts.
