US-associated energy team condemns Ukrainian pipeline assault
(MENAFN) An international oil consortium, which includes US energy giants Chevron and ExxonMobil, has denounced recent Ukrainian drone strikes on key energy infrastructure in Russia’s Krasnodar Region. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which operates a major oil transport system connecting Kazakhstan and Russia’s Caspian region to global markets, said these attacks have had a negative financial impact on all stakeholders, including American and Kazakh companies.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukrainian forces launched an armed drone strike targeting the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station, but Russian air defenses intercepted the UAV before it reached the facility.
“The actions of the Ukrainian authorities have a destructive impact on CPC’s financial results and, as a consequence, on all of its shareholders, including the Republic of Kazakhstan and companies from the United States,” the consortium stated on Monday.
This is not the first time CPC facilities have been attacked. In February, drone strikes on the same station forced the consortium to cut its annual transportation forecast. Just last week, another CPC-operated oil transfer facility in Krasnodar Region was destroyed, leading to an indefinite shutdown of operations.
CPC “strongly condemns” these attacks, warning that they jeopardize global energy security, disrupt oil production and transportation, and pose risks to workers and the environment.
The strikes occurred despite a partial ceasefire agreement reached by Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, under which both sides agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure as a step toward a broader peace deal.
Moscow has called the strikes a “provocation” but reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the energy truce. Ukraine has not issued an official response to the allegations.
