President Yoon Trial: Court holds second pre-trial hearing
(MENAFN) South Korea's legal proceedings against impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol continued Monday with a second pre-trial session at the Seoul Central District Court.
The session, commencing at 10:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT), aimed to further clarify the central points of contention and the evidence to be presented during the criminal trial.
Yoon Suk-yeol was not present at this second preliminary session, having previously attended the initial hearing on February 20. The first formal session in the trial is determined to be held on April 14.
During the initial formal hearing, the court will hear testimony from the finance and foreign ministers, who have been called as witnesses at the prosecution's request. This phase of the trial will focus on direct examination of these key witnesses.
Yoon Suk-yeol was freed from detention on March 8, following the prosecution's decision not to appeal a court's earlier release approval. The Seoul Central District Court had granted Yoon's request for release on February 4, effectively overturning his previous detention.
