Russian Drone Attack on Kyiv Causes Deaths, Injuries


(MENAFN) Ukraine reported on Sunday that at least three individuals were murdered and more than 10 others were wounded in a Russian drone strike on Kyiv during the night.

According to a statement from the Kyiv City Military Administration posted on Telegram, “Three people died, including a five-year-old child. Another 10 were injured. Among the dead, a father and his little daughter.”

The air raid alert for the Ukrainian capital lasted over five hours, starting at 8:39 p.m. local time (1739GMT) on Saturday evening, the statement added.

The strike caused significant damage to infrastructure, including residential construction, across the Podilskyi, Dniprovskyi, Holosiivskyi, Desnianskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi provinces.

In a separate update, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that its air defenses intercepted 97 out of 147 drones launched by Russia. The attack also impacted regions beyond Kyiv, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Odesa, and Donetsk.

Russian authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the overnight assault.
