White House declares Tesla assaults are ‘domestic terrorism‘

(MENAFN) White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has strongly condemned the recent attacks on Tesla dealerships and vehicles, describing them as “vicious violence.” She supported US Attorney General Pam Bondi’s investigation into the incidents, labeling them as domestic terrorism. These attacks appear to be linked to backlash against Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is advising President Donald Trump on efforts to reduce federal waste and bureaucracy through the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Leavitt vowed that President Trump would ensure the harshest penalties for those responsible, emphasizing his commitment to restoring law and order. The violent assaults on Tesla properties have included a Molotov cocktail attack on a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas, gunfire at a dealership in Tigard, Oregon, and the burning of two Cybertrucks at a Kansas City dealership. The FBI is now reviewing the fires as potential terrorism rather than simple arson.

Musk has suggested that left-wing activists are behind a coordinated campaign to harm him and undermine Tesla as part of their opposition to his efforts to cut federal spending. He called the attacks “fully terrorism” in a post on X. Amid ongoing protests against Musk, some activists have resorted to extreme measures, including doxxing Tesla owners and encouraging vandalism. Despite the threats, Musk sees the backlash as evidence that his and Trump’s policies are successfully disrupting entrenched interests.
