Canada Launches Ad Campaign in U.S. Against American Tariffs
(MENAFN) Canada is launching an advertising campaign on Friday across 12 U.S. states in response to the tariffs imposed by the United States, based on Foreign Minister Melanie Joly.
In a TV interview, Joly explained that Canada has already imposed USD60 billion worth of counter-tariffs on American goods.
“These tariffs are a tax on hardworking Americans,” Joly stated, highlighting the impact of the tariffs on American consumers.
She emphasized that the tariffs would lead to higher costs for Americans, both at the gas pump and when shopping for groceries.
To address this, Canada is launching an ad campaign aimed at raising awareness. "We’re launching an ad campaign today in 12 different states.
Canadians are sending a message that there’s no winners in a trade war. There will be job losses on both sides of the border,” she said.
The campaign will feature billboards along major highways in states such as Florida, Nevada, Georgia, New Hampshire, Michigan, and Ohio.
The Canadian Embassy in the U.S. shared an Instagram post that revealed the billboards will feature the message: "Tariffs are a tax on hardworking Americans." Joly noted that while these states are predominantly conservative, the campaign is necessary to ensure that the American public understands the stakes involved.
She encouraged Americans to engage with their lawmakers about the issue.
