Houthi Group Reports New U.S. Airstrikes on Yemen

(MENAFN) On Saturday, the Houthi party reported that recent US air bombing had struck the Al Hudaydah International Airport, located in western Yemen, as well as the Marib district in the east.

According to Houthi-affiliated news agency, "A new American aggression targeted Al Hudaydah Airport with three airstrikes."

Later reports from the channel indicated that five more airstrikes had hit the Majzar district in Marib province. However, the broadcaster did not give any information regarding casualties or the extent of damage caused by the attacks.

Last week, US President Donald Trump confirmed that he had authorized a "decisive and powerful" strike against the Houthis. In retaliation, the Houthi group declared on Thursday that Trump's threats "will not deter them from supporting Gaza."

This statement came as the Houthis resumed missile and drone assaults on Israel and ships in the Red Sea. This followed Israel's renewed military action in Gaza, which had started earlier in the week on Tuesday.

By Thursday evening, Houthi officials reported that the American airstrikes in Yemen had resulted in 79 deaths and left over 100 people wounded, including women and children.

Additionally, the group has been attacking Israeli-related vessels navigating through the Red and Arabian Seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden using missiles and drones since late 2023.

These actions have disrupted global trade, which the group describes as a demonstration of their solidarity with Gaza.
