Bangladesh Calls for Global Stance Against Racial Discrimination

(MENAFN) On Friday, Bangladesh urged the international community to take a firm stand against racial prejudice and called for "concrete action" in addressing the repatriation of Rohingya refugees.

The statement emphasized the importance of global involvement in ensuring the safe return of the Rohingya to Myanmar. "The global community must engage actively to ensure the early repatriation of the Rohingya to their homeland in Myanmar. We cannot allow racial discrimination to perpetuate cycles of displacement and statelessness," said Muhammad Yunus, the head of Bangladesh's transitional government.

Looking ahead to a summit conference on Rohingya Muslims as well as Other Minorities in Myanmar scheduled for later this year, Yunus expressed optimism that the event would create an opportunity to spur "concrete actions" toward resolving the crisis.
