Activists deface Tesla dealership to oppose Elon Musk, get arrested
(MENAFN) On Wednesday, two environmental activists were detained for splashing pink paint on the front of a Tesla dealership in Montreal, Canada, to voice their opposition to billionaire Elon Musk.
Media sources mentioned that local Police arrived at the scene following an early morning call and detained the suspects, both 20 and 21 years old.
Marcel Paré and Valérie Lachapelle, members of the Last Generation Canada civil resistance campaign, stated that their protest aimed to spotlight the contribution of billionaires and fossil fuel corporations to the growing climate disaster.
"The climate crisis is destroying lives in Canada and around the world," the activists wrote, further noting, "Yet, governments continue to support fossil fuel industries instead of protecting people from disasters like wildfires and floods."
The group also stated: "Canadians remain unprotected in the face of climate disaster and threats posed by (US President) Donald Trump and (billionaire) Elon Musk." They urged the establishment of a government-funded "climate disaster protection agency."
