Mother Helpage Brings Daily Community Iftars To Kashmir Hospitals


(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Mother Helpage, a humanitarian non-governmental organization dedicated to serving vulnerable communities, has launched a comprehensive daily Iftar program at major hospitals across North and South Kashmir. The initiative provides nourishing meals to patients, their families, and healthcare workers breaking their fast during the holy month of Ramazan.

The program operates daily at Sub District Hospital Sopore in North Kashmir and District Hospital Anantnag in South Kashmir, serving hundreds of individuals who might otherwise go without proper meals while attending to medical needs during this sacred time.

“During Ramadan, families with hospitalized loved ones often face the difficult choice between maintaining their bedside vigil or finding a place to break their fast,” said the representatives and volunteers of Mother Helpage.“Our Community Iftar program eliminates this burden, allowing families to remain with patients while fulfilling their religious obligations.”

The initiative addresses multiple needs within Kashmir's healthcare environment providing nutritious meals to patients who are fast but far from home and also supports family members who refuse to leave their loved ones'.

It also offers sustenance to hardworking healthcare professionals during their demanding shifts and creates a sense of community and spiritual connection during a holy period.

The Public in general and social activists have welcomed the program enthusiastically.

“The daily Iftaar provided by Mother Helpage has made a tremendous difference in the hospital environment, as it has witnessed improved patient morale and family satisfaction,” said Ghulam Rasool, an attendant.

At Sub District Hospital Sopore, where resources are more limited, the impact has been particularly significant. Each evening at sunset, volunteers distribute freshly prepared meals featuring traditional Kashmiri Iftar items, ensuring cultural appropriateness and nutritional value.

As Ramazan continues, Mother Helpage is seeking community support to sustain and expand this vital program. The organization aims to extend the Community Iftar program to additional healthcare facilities . Increase meal quantities to meet growing demand. Enhance meal options for patients with specific dietary requirements. Provide take-home food packages for discharged patients and their families.
