An alarming educational crisis has come to light in Anantnag district, where 376 lecturer positions remain vacant, leaving students without proper academic guidance. Adding to the distress, an RTI inquiry has revealed that 12 Higher Secondary schools are functioning without full-time principals, severely impacting their administration and overall academic environment.
Among the affected institutions are HSS Gohan, HSS Nowbugh, HSS Gadole, HSS Hardtoru, HSS Soaf, HSS Mantpora, HSS Chittergul, HSS Chaklipora, HSS Uttersoo, HSS Shangas, HSS Hiller, and HSS Nanil. The absence of permanent leadership in these schools has led to administrative inefficiencies, while the shortage of lecturers has disrupted the academic flow, depriving students of quality education.
With education being the backbone of societal progress, the situation demands immediate government intervention. Urgent measures are needed to fill these vacancies and restore stability to Anantnag's education sector. If left unaddressed, the crisis could have long-term repercussions on the academic future of thousands of students.
