Erdogan sends his Ramadan greetings to Turks, Muslims across Europe
(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent his Ramadan greetings on Saturday to Turks and Muslims across Europe during an iftar event organized by the Union of International Democrats (UID) in Cologne, Germany.
Speaking via a phone call relayed through Hulusi Akar, chair of the Turkish Parliament’s National Defense Committee, Erdogan wished for Ramadan to bring unity and blessings to the Muslim world, praying for peace and solidarity.
Akar emphasized the vital role of the Turkish community in Germany, recognizing their contributions to both Türkiye and Germany’s development. He reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to diplomacy and peaceful solutions while underscoring the country’s resolve to protect its national interests amid global challenges.
Addressing international conflicts, Akar condemned the global community’s inaction regarding Israeli military actions in Gaza and reaffirmed Türkiye’s stance on justice for Palestinians. He also highlighted Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts concerning the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The event was attended by Türkiye’s Consul General in Cologne, UID officials, and representatives from various organizations.
Meanwhile, the ongoing war in Gaza has resulted in over 48,500 Palestinian deaths, primarily women and children, since October 2023. Despite Hamas agreeing to a ceasefire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stalled negotiations, refusing to move forward with the second phase of a three-stage truce agreement, which was supposed to include further prisoner exchanges. Hamas has urged mediators to pressure Israel into honoring the agreement.
