Yemeni Information Minister: Houthi Militias Seize Aid Supplies

ADEN, March 19 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Information Minister Muammar Al-Aryani decried the Houthi militia's theft of food warehouses belonging to the World Food Programme in Saada.
The minister said in a statement in Wednesday that the militiamen seized more than 1.5 million kilograms of food supplies, hampering the WFP efforts to secure provisions for millions of impoverished Yemenis.
Al-Aryani said that the Houthi militias, weeks ago, abducted Ahmad Baalouli, a WFP employee, and executed him in captivity in Saada.
He said that these militias, in September 2018, transformed food warehouses into military positions in Al-Hodaida. And, in January 2020, they seized 127.5 tons of food supplies from the WFP stores in Hajja.
The information minister called on the UN to take a decisive stand against the recurring attacks on the humanitarian agencies.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) had declared that the Houthis seized the WFP supplies in Saada. (end)
