Trump takes away Secret Service protection from Hunter Biden

(MENAFN) US President Donald trump has ordered the removal of Secret Service protection for Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, as well as Ashley Biden, Joe Biden’s daughter. While former presidents and their spouses receive lifelong protection, adult children are not automatically entitled to the same security.

Trump, who has repeatedly accused Joe Biden of shielding his son from legal consequences, criticized the allocation of at least 18 agents to Hunter Biden and 13 to Ashley Biden. In a Truth Social post on Monday, he called the protection “ridiculous” and announced that both would be removed from the list effective immediately.

The Secret Service confirmed it would comply with the directive.

Hunter Biden was convicted in 2024 of tax-related offenses and of falsely stating he was not a drug user when purchasing a firearm. Trump and other Republicans have also accused him of corruption and influence peddling on behalf of his father, allegations the Bidens deny.

In December, Joe Biden issued a broad pardon for his son, despite previous assurances that he would not intervene. He defended the move, arguing that the prosecution was politically motivated. The decision faced backlash from Republicans and some Democrats, with Trump condemning it as "an abuse and miscarriage of justice."
