Kuwait Decries Destabilizing Acts In Syria
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
GENEVA, March 18 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's deputy permanent delegate to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Abdullah Al-Khubaizi reiterated rejection of all violations being perpetrated by lawless groups against the security forces in Syria.
The State of Kuwait maintains its principled stance against all acts that could destabilize Syria, Counsellor Al-Khubaizi said in a statement an interactive dialogue by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic.
The event is part of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council being held between February 24 and April 4, 2025.
The Kuwaiti diplomat reaffirmed his country's support to the efforts aiming to protect human rights in Syria, appreciating the positive steps recently taken by the Syrian authorities towards national reconciliation and dialogue.
Counsellor Al-Khubaizi welcomed the recent agreement to integrate the civilian and military entities in northeast Syria into the state institutions with a view to maintaining the country's sovereignty, national unity and territorial integrity.
He denounced the repeated attacks by the Israeli occupation forces on the Syrian people, saying these attacks run counter to the international law and the UN Charter and pose serious threat to the regional security.
He renewed Kuwait's call for lifting the sanctions on Syria which have negative impacts on the basic rights of the Syrian people and hamper the post-conflict recovery. (end)
