members of gang who are deported from U.S. arrive in El Salvador
(MENAFN) On Sunday, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele announced that 238 members of the Tren de Aragua gang and 23 MS-13 members deported from the United States had arrived in San Salvador.
Bukele posted on X that the gang members would be relocated to the CECOT mega-prison.
He highlighted that, over time, these actions—alongside the "Zero Free Time" initiative, which involves over 40,000 prisoners, would help make the prison system self-sufficient.
Among the deportees are two high-ranking gang figures, including a key leader within MS-13’s top hierarchy.
Bukele stressed that their capture would enhance intelligence efforts to dismantle the gang’s remaining network.
