Katara Celebrates Garangao Night With Enthusiasm

Doha, Qatar: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, celebrated Garangao night on Friday evening, marking the midpoint of Ramadan with a vibrant and joyous event on Katara's corniche and the open-air theatre, attended by a large audience.

This event is part of Katara's commitment to preserving Qatari and Gulf heritage, and enhancing cultural identity across generations through activities that blend tradition and heritage.

The celebration saw wide participation from visitors who flocked to Katara, with children dressed in traditional attire and chanting heritage songs. Garangao bags filled with nuts and sweets were distributed, promoting authentic Qatari customs. Garangao Night is one of the most cherished Ramadan traditions in Qatar and the Gulf, with streets adorned in festive atmospheres. Children in colourful traditional outfits roam the neighbourhoods, singing heritage songs and collecting sweets and nuts in their decorated bags from family and neighbours. This event embodies values of generosity and joy, and strengthens social bonds within the community. Katara aims to provide a unique experience for families and children, contributing to raising awareness of this tradition's authenticity and enhancing their connection to heritage.
