Arab League Welcomes UN Mission's Efforts In Libya

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, March 12 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Abul-Gheit welcomed on Wednesday the efforts of the United Nations Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), stressing the League's support for the Libyan people's aspirations for stability and peace.
A statement issued by the Arab League said that this came during a meeting held by Abul-Gheit with the new Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Hanna Tetteh, during which they exchanged views on the latest developments in Libya.
Abul-Gheit and Tetteh discussed efforts to activate international cooperation regarding the situation in Libya, including the League of Arab States, the United Nations, the African Union, and the European Union.
The Secretary-General also listened to the UN envoy's presentation on developments in Libya, where Tetteh stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination with the Arab League to support the resumption of inter-Libyan dialogue. (end)
