Kuwait Affirms Commitment To Combating Drugs


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) VIENNA, March 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna Talal Al-Fassam affirmed Kuwait's firm commitment to combating drugs and enhancing international cooperation.
In a speech delivered at the 68th session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna, Al-Fassam said that Kuwait adopted an integrated approach that includes strict legislative measures, preventive and rehabilitation programs, and enhanced international cooperation to confront cross-border challenges in this field.
He added that the recently opened center for addiction treatment in Kuwait reflected the country's commitment to providing treatment and rehabilitation services according to the latest medical and scientific standards.
Ambassador Al-Fassam renewed Kuwait's commitment to supporting international efforts to combat drugs, calling for intensified joint cooperation to achieve security, stability and sustainable development for all peoples.
Kuwait's delegation was headed by Ambassador Talal Al-Fassam, Colonel Abdullah Al-Rabeeah and Lieutenant Colonel Mahdi Al-Anzi from the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Hussein Al-Shatti from the Ministry of Health, and Third Secretary at the Permanent Delegation to the UN in Vienna, Rehab Al-Farhan.
